FORENSIC FILES / MEDICAL DETECTIVES: As of September 2024, over 300 episodes of Forensic Files / Medical Detectives are available free on You Tube and numerous other streaming services (FREE and for purchase). Some services have different season/episode numbers so always refer to the episode title when doing any Internet search. Please be aware that availability can also change so make sure you have access to the video prior to purchase. Each episode is 20-22 minutes in length.
Included are 10 worksheets for various episodes. Ease of access to the videos makes them great for in-class, computer lab, extra credit, or homework assignments since most students will have access to the programs through a variety of means. Because access to the videos is free, these worksheets are ideal for homework or distance learning.
The question sheets go in order through each episode with a focus on the science behind each case as well as the legal circumstances. I try to provide a variety of episodes to give students a wide range of ideas on how the career of a forensic scientist works. The episodes I have chosen are perfect for high school age and I do try to avoid certain adult aspects which I do not feel are appropriate for students. So rest assured that each episode is perfect for ages 14-18.
The episodes included with BUNDLE #8 (with their season and episode number) are:
All Wet (Season 8, Episode 8)
A 12-question worksheet to accompany this video documenting how police and forensic scientists in Pennsylvania and North Carolina compared evidence in the case of a man who lost both of his wives to suspicious drowning deaths.
Buried Treasure (Season 9, Episode 17)
A 12-question worksheet to accompany this video documenting how police and forensic scientists in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania used metal detectors and ballistics to help find one piece of evidence to help them catch a killer on a case that lasted 15 years.
Case of the Flue (Season 11, Episode 18)
A 12-question worksheet to accompany this video documenting how police and forensic scientists in Pennsylvania used paint chips and cell phone records to catch the killer of an elderly woman whose home was robbed.
Cold Storage (Season 7, Episode 23)
A 13-question worksheet to accompany this video documenting how police and forensic scientists in Texas spent over a decade trying to solve the case of a woman who disappeared. It was only through improved DNA testing and stored evidence that this became possible.
Elephant Tracks (Season 7, Episode 28)
A 13-question worksheet to accompany this video documenting how police and forensic scientists in Ohio found the killer of an elderly couple after years of searching. It was only through an old newspaper article and one piece of jewelry that the case was closed.

Order Up (Season 8, Episode 12)
A 13-question worksheet to accompany this video documenting how police and forensic scientists in Colorado used the contents of a victim’s stomach to provide important evidence when a murder scene lacked useful evidence.
Shattered Innocence (Season 12, Episode 18)
A 13-question worksheet to accompany this video documenting how police and forensic scientists in San Antonio, Texas had to use evidence to get past a staged crime scene in order to catch the killer of a well known defense attorney.

DOC & PDF VERSIONS: This worksheet is provided as an MS-Word document (DOC) so you can edit any questions/content to better fit the needs of your students. A PDF version is also provided for ease of use/printing on any technology.
