This is a 2-3 week project that requires the students to explore the manipulation of the physical measurements of mass, volume, density, temperature, texture, and shape. It is an exploratory and typically collaborative group project. The students will design their crime scene, develop evidence, create their own experiments, and eliminate suspects based on their physical property experiments. The best part is at the end they give their entire portfolio to another group to solve their crime, and that group has to reproduce all of the designed experiments.
This project fosters critical thinking, high levels of complexity, and gets learners developing experiments as opposed to always doing them (thinking like a scientist) FUN, FUN, FUN!!!
