Who stole the Red Queen's Unbirthday Tarts?
After a brief introduction to forensic science your students will use their investigative skills and science to solve this fun and interactive "who dunnit" mystery!
Your students will go through 5 stations with their investigators journal.
Stations 1: Fiber Analysis. Can your students use logic, magnifying glasses, and their investigator wits to figure out who left fibers at the crime scene?
Station 2: Finger Print Analysis. Your students will learn about the 3 basic types of fingerprints as they map out the crime scene's fingerprints and fingerprint themselves.
Station 3: Footprint Analysis. Student practice their measuring skills as they measure each suspects footprints and compare them to the footprints found at the crime scene!
Station 4: Puzzling Powders. Can your students use basic chemistry to find out who had the powder that was at the crime scene? Students use an iodine indicator to test for the presence of starch!
Station 5: Suspect interview. Students use close reading skills as they read through the interviews with each unbirthday party member to gather clues.
My students love this mini unit and I know yours will too!
