Product Description
As I was on the hunt for resources to teach my students about habitats, I realized that there aren't very many out there that include REAL pictures of animals and their environments. To help my students reach the rigorous Common Core State Standards, I want to provide them with non-fiction resources that will connect them to the world around them. This is why I created this Forest Habitat Non-Fiction pack loaded with REAL pictures of animals that live in the forest habitat and true information about what it's like in the forest.

Here's what's included in this forest habitat pack:

Pg. 2-11: Vocabulary cards (includes a word card, a definition card, and a picture card for 7 forest words)
Pg. 12-20: Large posters featuring real pictures of the forest habitat (included are forest, habitat, black bear, deer, snowshoe hare, beaver, bald eagle, and sap)
Pg. 21-30: Informational texts about the forest and the animals that live there (these are great to read to your students to kick off your habitats unit, to provide students as an extension, or as non-fiction research pieces when studying the forest habitat)
Pg. 31-39: Which Color Are They? (includes one close read text about why snowshoe hares camouflage themselves, vocabulary cards specific to the text, and five close read questioning pages)
Pg. 40-49: Beavers (includes one close read text, vocabulary cards specific to the text, and five close read questioning pages)
Pg. 49-51: Forest Habitat Mini-Close Read (includes one mini close read text PERFECT for young readers and ELLs who are just beginning to get the feel for looking closely at a text and one questioning page)
Pg. 52-56: Photographs (pictures of forest animals)
Pg. 57-60: Extras (forest writing page, exit ticket, and habitat Venn Diagram)
