Peer Editing - this strategy is used when students are sharing a sample of their writing with a few partners. This tool will help your students be more engaged in the composition sharing because they are responsible for writing down two ideas that they liked in their partner's writing and then one wish or suggestion on how to improve the writing. This feedback allows the student to see their composition from a different perspective and to possibly enhance their writing.
The students should then give these to the teacher so he/she can get an idea on the suggestions and thoughts of the students in the class about writing. This will help the teacher clear up an misconceptions or reteach important writing skills.
** This page is designed so the teacher can make copies, cut them in half so students half sheets to record their ideas.
** If you like this - you will REALLY like my other formative assessment sheets!
