As you know, formative assessments are an easy and effective way to get a snapshot of how well our students understand a concept. They can help us determine when students are ready to move on or when they need more time. They also let us know when we need to change up our teaching style or where the lesson should go next.
I use these slips in my classroom when I introduce a new concept. I use them as entrance slips, exit slips, and “I don’t think you’re with me right now” slips. I even keep stacks of them on hand for those few extra minutes at the end of a lesson that went faster than expected. What a valuable use of time! Enjoy!
