As a college English teacher, I find that a lot of students don't know how to format essays, so I have created lessons to teach them about it. This is the first of those.
In this lesson, I provide you a PPT, which has 11 slides, plenty of colors and animations, and the rules according to MLA guidelines in formatting essay titles.
Also, I include a worksheet that has ten un-formatted titles, and students have to write each one correctly. An answer key is provided.
Finally, I include a page of seven quiz questions, in case you want to add this lesson to your next assessment, or you could just give them it as a stand alone quiz. They're multiple choice, but you could just copy the questions on to another doc if you want the students to come up with the answers themselves. An answer key is also provided with this.
Believe it or not, this fills a 50 minute class. After you go through the lesson, which may take up to 15 minutes, give students a few minutes to finish the worksheet. Then, have students go to the board and write their answers. They'll make some mistakes, so you make corrections and explain things as you review the answers as a class.
