Includes three lesson plan options to get students excited about going through the steps of the scientific method. Lessons follow gradual release format. Standards are aligned to Missouri grade level expectations for 5th grade science, but the lessons will work for any teacher trying to teach the parts of a fair test.
Forms help students identify variables, ask a testable question, form a hypothesis, plan for investigation, organize data, draw conclusions, and suggestions for further experimentation. I use these in my own classroom to teach the scientific method, and the kids really have fun with it! One blank form gives students hints to help them remember all of the terms as they follow the scientific method. The next blank form doesn't have any hints. I use the form with hints for one or two experiments before asking students to do an investigation without the hints.
3 lesson plan ideas (Coke vs. Pepsi, Volcanoes, and Blowing Bubbles)
