1.14 blue pronoun/article cards – 7 with boardmaker pictures, 7 without pictures
2.34 red adjective cards – 17 with boardmaker pictures, 17 without
3.34 orange noun cards – 17 with boardmaker pictures, 17 without
4.36 green verb pictures – 18 with boardmaker pictures, 18 without
5.32 purple preposition phrases cards – 16 with boardmaker pictures, 16 without
1.Print out each page, cut squares, and laminate.
2.Print out a couple of the silly sentence assembly key (I suggest printing at least two depending on how many children will be participating at one time) and laminate.
3.If desired, put Velcro or magnetic strips (depending on which type of board you will be using). These cards would also work well with a pocket chart if available.
Instructions for Suggestive Use:
1.Place all of the cards on the table.
2.Review the assembly key with your students and talk about what each part of the sentence is (i.e. an adjective is a describing word)
3.Have the students use the silly sentence assembly key to assemble their own silly sentence – placing the cards in order by color. I have included two sets of words – one with pictures (for our younger friends who need visual support) and one with just the words on them.
4.Have the students read their sentences aloud.
5.If desired have the students write their sentences as well (sometimes with my younger friends, I even let them draw a picture with it)
