PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is an engaging, simple activity to introduce a unit on dinosaurs/fossils. Given a chocolate chip cookie on a paper plate, students use a toothpick to carefully extract the "fossils" (chocolate chips) and set them aside. After they record their findings, they are, of course, free to eat their cookies!

The activity sheet familiarizes students with the vocabulary words "paleontologist" and "fossil," introduces the basic job of a paleontologist, and asks them to consider what might be done with fossils after they are found (assembled to re-create the original creature, taken to a museum, etc.).
