This product includes 5 science stations about fossils. Students receive a station booklet and rotate to the 5 stations which are meant to take about 15 to 20 minutes.
Station 1: Students read a one page passage called about fossils and respond to prompts in their station booklet.
Station 2: Students sort fossil vocabulary terms and match them to the correct definition. Terms include: mold fossil, cast fossil, trace fossil, and true form fossil. Students complete a vocabulary four square for true form fossil.
Station 3: Students create a mold fossil by pressing small animals or shells into clay or salt dough. Students draw their fossil in the station booklet and write a short explanation of how their animal came to be fossilized.
Station 4: Students use the DK Find Out fossils website to complete a scavenger hunt for information and record the answers in their station booklets.
Station 5: Students play a fossil memory match game. The object of the game is to match a picture of a fossil to the plant or animal that created it. Students then record the matches in their station booklets.
The station booklet also includes a KWL chart and a word search for early finishers.
