This is my Found Poetry lesson from my Poetry Unit for Interactive Notebooks for older students. Found Poetry requires students to look through an existing text and create a poem using selected words and phrases in the order that they appear. I use Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley for this lesson, but you can use any text. (grades 7-10)

This resource details the IN (Bellringer) - THROUGH (Teacher Input/Guided Classwork) - OUT (Exit/Independent Practice/Homework) method. This is a great way to ensure gradual release of responsibility.
What You Get:
1. Found Poetry Lesson Plan
2. Student Sample and Teacher's Guide
3. Trial texts for the Bellringer phase (from Frankenstein by Mary Shelley)
4. Practice texts for the Through & Out phases (from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll)
