Invite your students to think critically about some of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s most famous words. This found poetry activity engages students in critical analysis of MLK's speeches and then asks them to develop their own found poem using the words, phrases and lines that resonate with them.
This resource includes analysis questions for four of MLK's most famous speeches: excerpts of "I Have a Dream," his Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance, "I See the Promised Land," and "Loving Your Enemies." Next, students are provided with all of the necessary materials to develop their own found poem that speaks to the themes of MLK's writing.
The Table of Contents provides a clearer outline of the entire activity from start to finish.
**And, as an additional note, the speeches are NOT included in this resource due to copyright laws, but they are easily accessible online! My teacher's notes will direct you to where you can find them.
