I have a few students in my third grade math class that are not on level. They are provided with whole class instruction at the regular third grade level. The daily work and assessments are a little above the level they are performing at. Therefore, our district has started a 'foundations math' class for these students. It takes the regular class concepts and helps to simplify them for these individuals. This is the subtraction assessment for my foundations math class. It can be used as an advanced 2nd grade assessment or lower third grade assessment. It is still linked to the Common Core. For example, instead of subtracting 3-digit numbers, my foundation math students will only be required to do 2-digit numbers.
