This comprehensive unit is designed to be taught over a 6-8 week period. It is aligned with Common Core State Standards in Reading Informational Texts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, National Social Studies Standards in Civics and Illinois Learning Standards. Designed using the principles of Ubd, this unit includes essential questions, unit questions and enduring understandings. Learning activities are scaffolded, differentiated and aligned with all levels of Bloom's Taxonomy. Formative, summative and performance-based assessments are included.
