This is a 9 page interactive reading guide on the founding of Christianity. It takes the student on a biblical journey beginning with the birth of Jesus Christ through his ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection. Throughout the reading guide, students will be prompted to trace Jesus' ministry and other important events on a map. The map works best when copied onto an 8 x 14 or 11 x 14 paper. For my classroom, I laminate the maps and re-use them each year for my Middle East religions unit. A page entitled "The Christian Faith" at the end of the reading guide gives the student an overview of the basic beliefs of Christianity. Also, there is a handout for students to complete to assess their learning.
Topics include the birth of Jesus, his ministry, importance of Abraham to Christianity, spread of Christianity, main beliefs and traditions. Vocabulary words such as Messiah,, Christmas, Easter, and Passover are also explained.
My students enjoy this interactive lesson and the opportunity to interact with a map. Check out my other reading guides for Islam, as well as Judaism!
