Do you need to train teachers on how to use the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System? If so, you're in luck. :) I have put together a powerpoint (20 slides with notes), handouts and several "cheat sheets" to use with the system. I used these materials to train several teachers who had used the system in the past and needed a refresher as well as several new teachers who had never used the system before. Everyone was able to use the system correctly after this short one hour training. The "cheat sheets" are especially helpful. I printed them on colored cardstock for teachers to use when they benchmark their students so they don't have to search for formulas, charts, etc. in the F&P spiral.
The training is set up to take an hour. The only other resource you will need is the DVD that comes with the Fountas & Pinnell BAS A-L.
The training explains the who, what, when, why and how of the system. It shows teachers how to use the system and the "cheat sheets" I put together. It also takes teachers through two mock benchmarks; once to practice coding a running record and once to determine a student's reading level.
Once the 1 hour training is complete teachers will be able to use the system with their students to determine reading levels and group their students for guided reading.
The free preview shows the training handout. Enjoy!!!
