Many schools in the United States use the Fountas and Pinnell leveling system to assess to find their students’ reading level. I have created bookmarks that display what is a year and a year and a half’s reading growth from any letter beginning. For example if a child is in 2nd grade but starts the school year reading on a level G a year’s growth will be finishing on a L. The bookmark will display the letters G, H, I, J, K, and L. S/he will be given this bookmark at the beginning of the school year to keep track of the growth and as s/he moves along the continuum a star can be adhered next to each letter. There is a colored reading strategies bookmark to attach to the other side of the bookmark.
Directions: Print (in color, if desired) on card stock. The bookmarks can also be laminated for prolonged use.
