After my first round of assessing my students' progress using the Fountas and Pinnell Reading Running Record Assessment System, I knew I needed a sheet to record all of their scores on.
I created a rough document in Excel, tested it out a couple of times, made alterations, and finally arrived at this record sheet. This previous year, I feel I've hammered out all of the kinks and was very pleased with my final product.
(Note: I teach in Palm Beach County, and this assessment record sheet aligns with what the district requires me to report. Your district/school's requirements may differ.)
I print out this record sheet once a trimester and fill in the students' scores as I test them. It prevents me from missing a score, and losing data. I keep the sheet on a clip board, near my guided reading table, so I can easily access it when I need to.
