I’ve discovered that playing music really does help my students remember important things. The other night, as I was trying to make a lesson that would STICK, that fabulous 70’s song YMCA played over and over in my mind. Imagine how happy I was when I discovered that the four kinds sentences: Exclamatory, Interrogative, Declarative, and Imperative seemed to fit so perfectly with YMCA. Whether singing it silly or putting the lyrics in interactive notebooks, this song will stick! Included are the new lyrics to the song YMCA (EIDI) and a page to use in interactive notebooks. I cut this page apart and glued it so that all flaps open to write sentences. I hope you find this song and this activity a fun way to learn and remember the four kinds of sentences. Happy singing and teaching!
