This is a set of six tests. Each test covers the four operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with fractions (all positive answers) and is broken down into twenty-five subskills. These tests allow a teacher and student to analyze their mastery of the four operations with fractions and allows for targeted remediation. (An assumption is made that students have mastered addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, but the whole numbers can be modified for differentiated assessment, if mastery of fractions is all that you want to assess. Just let me know and I’ll send you the file in a Word document so you can modify it.) Answer keys are provided in the same format to allow for easier grading and an analysis sheet is included to allow for a whole class comparison of a single test or the analysis sheet can be used by students to track their progress across all six tests. Also included is a student self-assessment with an item covering the affective domain. Tests #1 - #5 can be used as formative assessments with Test #6 being the summative. (Although, when I use this with my 8th grade math class, Test #1 is used only for my and the student’s information. The first test is untimed, but I do impose a time limit on subsequent administrations of the tests. Also, I created these tests to use the front and back of one sheet. I’ve found that some students have trouble fitting their answers in the space provided, but I encourage them to size down their handwriting – not a bad skill to learn. Tests are written in a Word document using Microsoft Office and Home 2016 and saved as a pdf. Margins are set at Top: 0.8”, Bottom: 0.8”, Left: 1.0”, and Right: 1”.
