PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a four project bundle that guides a Montessori middle school math unit: Integer Operations. The bundle includes the following resources:

• Step by Step Graphic Organizers for Four Projects
o Organized pages so students can work through project steps as independently as possible
• Editable Student Map
o A colorful map which details each step of the unit for students to guide themselves
o Key lessons in the map showing you what skills need to be learned before each step of the project can be performed

o Discussion tips and helpful hints
o Differentiation suggestions to meet the needs of every student

This resource can be used by traditional, homeschool, and Montessori teachers alike. The student map provides the sequence of skill lessons needed to drive these project steps and where each step fits in (see preview above). You provide the lessons and the follow-up work, this provides the meaningful application to their learning and choice of engaging project for the adolescent.

Budget Maker 2000
Students set a personal goal for themselves and use integers in a budget to finance this goal.

• Feasibility: hypothetical application, feasible as a home project

It’s All About that Base, no ACID!
Students learn the PH Scale and neutralization to use integers in a number line.

• Differentiation: highly abstract
• Connections: decimals, logarithms, chemistry

• Feasibility: feasible within classroom
• Materials: pH test strips, beakers, lemon juice, soda, baking soda, soap, water samples

Local Charity Fundraiser
Students hold a fundraiser and contribute the profits to a local charity, using integers in a budget.

• Differentiation: concrete application
• Connections: decimals, finance
• Feasibility: Feasible within whole school setting
• Materials: fundraising items


Color Theory
Students create their own double primary color wheel and double primary palette while studying color theory and gradients.

• Differentiation: hands-on abstraction
• Connections: art
• Feasibility: feasible within classroom
• Materials: paint, brushes, art paper
