This simple game is played like "Connect 4", gomoku, or the Chinese game WuZiQi. Two students or two teams alternate taking spaces on the board by reading words. The winner is the first to connect 4 spaces in a row diagonally, horizontally, or vertically.
In an ESL classroom, this is a good tool for reviewing short vowels sounds. These games make for a high concentration of reading and putting together new words.
