Read Think Apply Assessments, What you get:
These Fourth Grade Read Think Apply assessments are comprehensive in that each one contains Common Core standards in Reading Literature, Language and Vocabulary. There are three assessments in each packet, each one including a teacher version, which has asterisks next to the correct answer and the Common Core standard listed at the bottom of the question. A rubric for scoring the constructed response questions is also included.
This is a 77-page document, which includes three separate assessments, each with a student version and a teacher version.
There are three assessments for third grade. When the reading passage is non-fiction, the writing assessment component is based on expository writing skills. When the reading passage is literature based, the writing component of the assessment is narrative based. This is in keeping with the Common Core Standards’ focus on connecting reading and writing.
To the extent possible, the assessments are based on the criteria for assessing based SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium), especially with regard to emphasis on measuring students’ ability to use text evidence as well as a balance between selected response questions (multiple choice) and constructed response (written demonstration of thinking).
The passages for the reading non-fiction and reading literature sections are aligned to the descriptions of text complexity and written at a Fourth Grade level.
