As part of the ELA Common Core State Standards and New York State history, teaching the students about the Iroquois culture is one of our highest priorities!
This series of sheets/activities supports both of those curriculum-based goals. This set includes:
-Three selections explaining the legend/story of The Iroquois Creation that can be used as an oral reading exercise.
-Various lesson ideas on teaching/introducing the Creation Story/Legend.
-A page of follow up comprehension questions which mirror the format and direction of ELA Common Core.
This series of lessons is part of a comprehensive unit that I wrote on the Haudenosaunee/Iroquois.
Each of these sheets supports the ELA Common Core curriculum, AND is an engaging way to get students interested in the CULTURE of the Haudenosaunee/Iroquois.
