Note to teacher:
If you’re like me then you want to be prepared for any unexpected absence you may have. You get sick. Your child gets sick. A family emergency comes up. It happens to all of us! But, when you are absent you want to make sure your students are still engaged and learning!
This 144 page emergency substitute pack covers ALL subjects (math, science, reading, vocabulary, language arts, writing, social studies) for an entire WEEK! EVERY skill was carefully chosen to match the 4th grade Common Core curriculum in Math and Language Arts. ALL science and social studies skills are material your students need to know for standardized testing no matter what state you live in.
You will get:
Daily Schedule- to write in your specific schedule
A Special Needs chart- to write in any medical or special needs the sub needs to know about
A “I was Your Sub Today” chart for your sub to write any important information
A Daily Chart with every skill listed and the approximate time it should take to complete for your sub’s easy reference
A List of ALL Standards your students will be engaged with that day to post on the wall if needed for your principal
5 Math Lessons
5 Vocabulary Lessons
5 Grammar Lessons
5 Writing Lessons
5 Reading Lessons
5 Social Studies Lessons
5 Science Lessons
Note: Several of the lessons have two or more parts and MANY of the lessons include cut and paste activities, foldables, constructive response and much more. Your students will be engaged in meaningful lessons EVERY day. Due to the interactive materials your students should not have time to get into mischief! We all know how much students LOVE mischief!
These lessons are designed to make it easy on the substitute with very little prep from you the teachers. Simply print the lessons needed and make a pack for each student.
Your students will need the basic school supplies to complete their tasks (scissors, glue, paper, pencils, colors or colored pencils and occasionally construction paper). A couple of lessons may require a dictionary and some could use a text book for references (BUT the text book is NOT necessary to complete the lessons).
Spelling activities do NOT require a spelling list and the reading activities do NOT require a weekly story or novel. Though students should have a library book to read independently.
Enjoy while having piece of mind knowing your students are engaged with critical thinking lessons and are busy working on necessary skills while you are out!
Note: While these skills are taken from the Fourth Grade Common Core Curriculum, they are suitable for 3rd-5th grade.
