This is an assessment (which can also be used as a pre-assessment) for early fourth grade math material. The following standards/portions of standards are covered/introduced in this 3-page assessment:
-Read and write multi-digit whole numbers using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.
-Fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm.
-Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table.
-Solve multistep word problems posed with whole numbers and having whole-number answers using the four operations.
-Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money.
This assessment was structured to be used early in the year, immediately before moving into rounding/comparing numbers as well as before focusing on multiplication, division, and fraction/decimal numbers. This allows for a rigid understanding of addition/subtraction and place value concepts, while introducing fourth grade skills for solving multi-step word problems and unit conversions (to be enriched throughout the year).
Six worksheets are included. Three sheets represent the first three pages and the other three are the answer keys for each page.
This can be used to supplement a common core math curriculum for fourth grade, or wherever it seems to fit in.
Thank you for stopping by!
