This file contains four activities to strengthen the number skills of your students in working with identifying, comparing, and rounding numbers through millions. It is aligned with Virginia SOL 4.1a-c.
**Place Value and Writing Numbers-20 task cards asking students to write numbers, to identify the value of a given digit, to identify the digit in a particular place, and to match numbers in standard and word forms.
***Comparing Numbers Sort-16 task cards comparing numbers through millions using the symbols >, <, and =. Students sort the cards into True or Not True on the included sorting mat.
***Roll, Say, Keep!-A fun game for 2-3 students to practice reading larger numbers. A game board, answer key, directions, and 24 number cards are included.
***Rounding Numbers Task Cards-20 cards-12 cards asking students to round numbers to the nearest thousand, ten thousand, or hundred thousand. Eight of the cards are meant to mimic Virginia's TEI questions. Students are given 4-5 numbers and asked to record the numbers that would be 700,000 when rounded to the nearest hundred thousand-or 340,000 when rounded to the nearest ten thousand. There are 2-4 correct answers for these questions.
***These activities are great centers. I like to use the task cards and sorting cards as stations and have students play the game as they complete an activity.
****Sold separately, I have several Bump Games that complement these activities. If you are interested in viewing these, click on my name above to go to my store. I also have an ordering numbers freebie that works well with these activities.
