This is a set of homework packets I created based on Eureka Math's "A Story of Units" for fourth grade. It also includes a page of basic computation skills in each packet. I created these packets so that my kids would be assigned skills already practiced regularly in class as well as review from previously taught skills. I have observed over the years that students who don't practice previously taught skills on a regular basis will lose those skills. "If you don't use it, you lose it."
*PLEASE NOTE THAT I TEACH THE MODULES IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER: Module 1, Module 3, Module 5, Module 6, Module 4, Module 7
(Module 2 is taught throughout.)
Skills/Module Lessons Covered:
**Only new skills added to the packet are listed. Previous skills are continuously woven into each homework packet.
Week 1: Third grade review- place value, rounding, elapsed time, word problems, computation
Week 2: Third grade review- place value, rounding, word problems, computation; Fourth grade Module 1, Lessons 1-4
Week 3: Third grade review- place value, rounding, computation; Fourth grade Module 1, Lessons 4-6
Week 4: Module 1, Lessons 7-10; computation
Week 5: Module 1, Lessons 10-13; computation
Week 6: Module 1, Lessons 13-end of Module; computation
Week 7: Module 1 Review; Module 3, Lesson 1; computation
Week 8: Module 3, Lessons 1-3; computation
Week 9: Module 3, Lessons 4-7; computation
I send these packets home on Mondays, and they are due on Fridays. Students who make more than a previously determined number of errors (depending on the number of questions in the packet), must make corrections each following Monday.
SPECIAL NOTE: I teach the modules in a different order than presented by Eureka Math. I skip Module 2 and go straight to Module 3. (I come back to Module 2 later in the year.) However, these packets are editable, so you can add questions based on the 5 lessons in Module 2 as needed, OR you can attach a page or two of Module 2 homework to the packet.
