Do your students need a few extra reminders to follow classroom expectations during the 4th quarter?
Each school year, during the fourth quarter, I like to engage my students in what I call the Fourth Quarter Team Challenge. I use this activity at the end of each school year when students often need a little extra motivation to do what is expected of them. I put all of my students onto a team and reward teams of students for remembering to be kind, caring, and respectful students. I give teams points for things like keeping their table area clean, pushing in their chairs before leaving the room, and helping their classmates. I do not take points away from teams for misbehavior; however, I may award other teams for demonstrating appropriate classroom behavior. At the end of each week, we celebrate the winning team. I give them a small reward, and they receive special privileges the following week. We start each week fresh, this way each team has the same opportunity to win.
Included in this product you will receive posters to display in your classroom to help track your team points, a welcome slide to display for your students when you begin the challenge, a beginning activity where students create their team names, and suggestions and ideas on how I incorporate this challenge into my classroom.
If you have any questions about what is included or how this works, please feel free to ask! I am happy to help in any way that I can.
I have included team names for the colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. If you would like another color, please just let me know!
