This activity comes with 3 versions. The first two have kids create a design with colored paper squares that matches given fractional specifications. In addition to creating their design, they must also explain the math behind it using words, numbers, and pictures. The third version allows students to create any design they want, and then explain what fraction of the design each color is. Like the first two versions, they must explain their math using words, pictures, and numbers. Great for a bulletin board display!
The activity does require some prepping because the colored paper squares need to get cut. It would be great for a parent volunteer to help get ready.
