Create two dice: one will tell the student what number they are going to use to create a fraction(number dice), the second dice will tell what the fraction is going to be (fraction dice which has halves and fourths). Use the pieces attached for each side of the dice. One page is for the fraction dice and the other for the number dice. I used two tissue boxes and taped the pictures to the outside of them to make the large sized dice.
Print out as many cookie sheets as needed and cut them out.
To play, students need 4 plates and 12 cookies.
Have students roll the dice.
Have students take out the number of cookies they rolled on the number dice. Have students look at the fraction dice and based on what it says, decide how many plates they need. For example, if they roll half, they need 2 plates. If they roll fourths, they need for plates. Then have students practice passing out their cookies so that each plate gets the same amount. (Fractions are always fair)
