This worksheet allows student to practice using fractions and decimals as parts of the Whole or One. Students use this template to "map" out each letter of their name (one worksheet per letter) and color the letter. Students count each box (tenths or hundredths) they used to create the letter and then calculate their decimal and fraction, or parts of the whole for each letter. Tip: This project turns out better if students use ONE color for the letter and ONE color for the background. * Depending on ability students can complete their whole name, or their initials. Once students have completed their name or initials, you can cut out the worksheet as close as possible to the grid, leaving fraction and decimal calculations. Arrange & attach student name on 11X17 paper and laminate. You can hang the names on your bulletin board, or hang over each student's desk. This project gives the students a lot of independent practice to apply and master this skill.
