This file contains two versions of an activity to familiarize students with equivalent fractions, decimals, and percents. This can be an individual activity or completed with a partner.
Version 1 - Students will cut apart a scrambled puzzle sheet and glue them onto a blank 5 x 5 square template. The numbered squares make it easy to check for accuracy.
Version 2 - The 5 x 5 sheet needs to be printed on cardstock, laminated, and cut apart before distributing them to students. Students will just create the 5 x 5 square by matching the equivalent values, then the teacher will verify placement without gluing them to a blank sheet. This version can be used year after year. (Particulary helpful if your campus limits your copies)
My personal opinion is that option one is easier to check as the number in the middle of each square makes it easier to "check" quickly. However, I did place a border around the permanent verision to help with this. Additionally, I placed a large brightly colored circle sticker in the center square before laminating to give the students a little help, as they could work out from there. The circle sticker was very helpful for struggling learners. I offered a bonus point coupon on a past test for the winning group, and my students worked very diligently on this activity...and did not even notice they were reviewing! :) I hope your students enjoy this as much as mine have.
