There are three fun filled fraction games to help your students practice identifying simple fractions.
Memory- Print the fraction picture cards and the corresponding written fraction cards on cardstock and laminate. Lay the cards face down and have students match the picture card and fraction card.
Smiley Face- Print and laminate the fraction pictures and/or the written fraction cards. Also print the smiley faces labeled smiley face game Mix all the cards together and pass out one card to each student (best if played in a small group setting) then each student identifies the fraction, if correct the child keeps the card, if the child is incorrect the card goes back in the dealing pile. If a smiley face is dealt the student wins and the game starts over or a small prize can be given.
Pocket Chart-Print and laminate the fraction picture cards and/or the written fractions. Also print the smiley faces labeled pocket chart game. Place all the printed fraction cards in a pocket chart then place one smiley face behind one of the cards. Students guess where the smiley face is by identifying the fraction. I use this game in a whole group setting to review fractions. The winner of the round can be the host and call on classmates to identify the fractions.
