Description

This fraction partner game resource includes five games designed to help students practice partitioning circles, rectangles, and squares into halves, thirds, and fourths, and identifying and naming simple fractions using fraction vocabulary and fractions written numerically using a fraction bar. These games work great as math centers!

Just print each game board and laminate or place in a page protector. Then, provide a pencil, a paperclip, counters, and/or a dry erase marker as indicated by game directions.

The following games are included:

• Cookie Fraction Bump

• How Much Was Eaten? Fraction Bump

• Donut Fraction Bump

• Draw & Partition

• Shade the Shape

---

Common Core Standards addressed are listed on each game mat and include:

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.G.A.3: Partition circles and rectangles into two, three, or four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, thirds, half of, a third of, etc., and describe the whole as two halves, three thirds, four fourths. Recognize that equal shares of identical wholes need not have the same shape.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.NF.A.1: Understand a fraction 1/b as the quantity formed by 1 part when a whole is partitioned into b equal parts; understand a fraction a/b as the quantity formed by a parts of size 1/b.

In my own second grade classroom, I use the games aligned to the third grade standards to challenge my stronger math students. This would also be a great set to have on hand in third grade if you are looking to provide some review of second grade fraction concepts as well as practice for 3.NF.A.1 at the start of your fraction unit.
