This is a mathematical game involving unit fractions as a series of sums for simple fractions. Students compete in a golf tournament attempting to find the shortest combination of unit fractions to complete the hole (simple fraction). Multiple tournaments can be set up to accommodate learners of all levels. This activity is certain to challenge even the most advanced learners in their knowledge and applications of fractions and all concepts related to such. I have used this activity as a differentiated assignment for those advanced learners, but have brought all learners into the fold by adding other tournament courses. A detailed lesson plan with background information and management suggestions, along with accompanying student sheets are included.
