This pack of resources is designed to assist students with the development of the computational processes associated with Fraction handling. The resource consists of two parts. The first part is a pack of 15 helper cards providing detailed and stepped procedures for fraction handling. The second part of the resource is a task card set concerned with providing practice associated with each of the skills outlined in the helper cards. Each task card set has five associated problems.
I have used this resource in my own classrooms, at various times and in different formats, with students in the range of years 6 to 8. They have provided a means by which students can practice the computations independently and in pairs, following directed teaching to a whole class. They can also be used as a mini-lesson in the fluency session at the start of a lesson. I have found that they are great to revisit in consecutive years as students often encounter difficulty with fraction handling. This resource is an adjunct to your class instruction and designed to impart a degree of learning independence.
Included in this pack:
15 Fraction Helper Cards in a pdf document.
65 Fraction practice problems in the same pdf document.
1 answer key in the form of a second pdf document.
Simply print on white A4 and laminate for small and whole group use. I hope your students gain confidence and understanding when using this product.
