This is three activities to help students learn fractions and their representations. The first two activities are fraction sorts that have students cutting, sorting, and matching different fractions, their representations on a number line, in word form, and two different picture models.
This product can be differentiated in several ways:
1. Students can sort all the different types of representations of fractions on a recording sheet.
2. Students can use the recording sheet that already has the fractions, fill in their own number line, and just sort the different picture and word models for a more of a challenge.
3. Students can use the recording sheet that already has the fractions, fill in their own number line, and draw their own models for the hardest challenge.
The second activity is a 40 card matching game. This product can be used as a concentration game matching different fraction representations or titles are included to match the fractions to the different representations.
Both activities would be great in a math center! Or use the matching game for practice and the sort as an independent assessment!
