This activity allows students to apply their knowledge of fractions. Students work in small groups measure out and create a delicious snack mix!
Student groups are only given two measuring cups: 1/4 and 1/3. They must work as a group to first create equivalent fractions for the measurements given in the recipe. After they have correctly created equivalent fractions to match the given measuring cups, they can move on to make their mix.
*Teacher note: it is helpful to measure out enough of each ingredient (plus a little extra) into baggies ahead of time. You may also have big bowls of each ingredient available out of which each of the groups can come and measure what they need.
