Each year my students struggle with the fraction number line and equivalent fractions. The past two years I have made my fractions into t-shirts and we hung our fractions out to dry. Each class member has a fraction distributed to him or her and these fractions are then hung on the number line with their equivalents. The clothes line always begins with the fraction benchmarks and we build from there. The students love the activity and are able to use it for many weeks until fraction fluency is created.
