This file includes a template for students to make a number line with fractions with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 and fraction cards to complete the number line. A completed version of the number line is also included, so the completed version could also be given to students instead of having them cut out the cards and glue them to the number line template.
It may be helpful to have the fraction cards cut up prior to the activity, if time permits. The cards are also grouped with thirds and sixths together and halves, fourths, and eighths grouped together, so this can be completed over several days.
Also included is an assignment that involves comparing fractions and it is helpful to use the number line as a tool to compare the fractions.
This is a great visual that reinforces equivalent fractions and provides meaningful relationships when ordering and comparing fractions.
The fraction cards could also be used as ordering practice with or without the number line.
There are so many possibilities for this product and I am pleased to offer it for free for a short amount of time. I hope you have a fabulous end of the school year!
