This is a great tool for conceptual understanding of fractions. The tool should be printed double-sided and laminated so that students can use dry-erase pens for counting. Each number line on the front goes to the whole number 4 and has fractions 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6, and 1/8. Each number line on the back goes to the whole number 11 and has fractions 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6, and 1/8. It is a great resource for students to use when counting the number of fractions within a mixed number, adding or subtracting fractions with like denominators, as well as comparing fractions. It also provides a visual understanding of what fractional number lines should look like past the whole number of 1.
