This file include 4 different open ended/problem solving fraction tasks. These are perfect to see if students really understand the concept/value of different fractions. All tasks are original and ready to print in one PDF file. This file is appropriate for upper elementary.
Who Is Winning (2 pages)- 6 students are playing the game, “Red light..Green light”. They are each a fraction of the way to the finish line. Kids must figure out which order each child in from start to finish.
What’s it Closest to? (2 pages)- This task covers benchmark fractions and figuring out which fractions are closer to 0, ½ and 1.
Fraction Design Challenge (3 pages)- Each page has a different object (shape) to fill in. Directions are given to color a certain fraction or decimal of each shape. Example..Color 1/5 of the decagon blue.
More Lemony (1 page)- Kids must figure out which pitcher of lemonade will be stronger and explain their reasoning. Each pitcher gives the amount of water and the amount of lemons used to make the lemonade.
