Fraction Pizzas- Mama Mia, Mama Mia!
Your little chefs will be serving up fractions any way they like it....all while incorporating math and writing skills! The focus of this lesson is to use art to teach fraction, decimal, and percent equivalents.
Prior to teaching this lesson, I like to read the story, Fractions, Decimals, and Percents by David Adler. Once my students have a solid understanding about how to change a fraction into a decimal and a percent, they are ready for this activity! Students choose their ingredients for their own personal pizza and find the fraction, decimal, percent equivalents.
Once their pizza is created, the little chefs then start their expository writing and write step by step directions for creating a fraction pizza.
File includes colorful learning target posters that can be printed for a bulletin board or projected onto your SmartBoard, directions, a variety of pizza ingredients that are in color and black/white, and student reproducibles.
