Looking for a fun Fraction project for your students?!
At the end of a Math unit, I always try to give students an opportunity to show their learning! I used this real world project in my fourth and fifth grade class and my students loved it!
~What is the project~
Students will be create a 3-course meal.
Students will research an appetizer, main course and dessert recipe.
Students will have to manipulate the recipe to serve 12 people.
Students will have to use multiplication and addition of fractions to figure out the ingredients needed to make enough food.
-Objectives for the project
-Student Introduction Pages (Explains the project, where they can find their recipes, how they do the math. This is a great resource to use with your students)
-My hand written teacher sample(Great to show students and families before the project and display during the project)
- 2 different rubrics (How will students be graded- How many points)
-2 parent letters (Includes explanation of the project and how students will be graded)
First letter is for a project to be done at home
Second letter is for project to be done in class with makeup done at home
-3 Blank recipe sheets for each meal (for those who may need more organization)
-Project Check List- (Does the student have all the materials necessary)
