This a great hands-on project to use to culminate your fraction unit! I used this project with my 3rd grade class and my students had so much fun with it!
This resource serves as a great stand alone for a fraction project, or can be used as a planning guide to creating a more elaborate pizza project with extension activities and rubrics included! Can be used as an independent, partner, or group project.
*Naming fractions in various forms
*Finding equivalent fractions using a variety of visual models
*Solving and writing different types of fraction word problems
Here's how I used the resource in my class:
I chose to go the more elaborate route and had my students use this resource to plan and design their project and then had local pizza companies donate pizza boxes for the students to use to create a life size, 3D version of their pizza. We culminated the project with a gallery walk where students were able to solve each other's word problems and check out each other's projects.
