### Description

Being able to express equivalent fractions and add tenths and hundredths is an essential prerequisite skill to later work with decimal notation. These fraction puzzles are a great way to practice working with fractions with denominators of 10 and 100!

There are 24 puzzles included. Each puzzle has 3 parts - 2 with equivalent addition expressions and 1 with the correct sum.

Cut out the puzzle pieces and shuffle them up. Students will work independently or with a partner or small group to match the correct pieces together. (This could also be a fun way to make student groups! Give each student a puzzle piece and have them find their matches to create a group of 3.)

You can choose to use all of the puzzles at the same time, or only use some of them, depending on how quickly you want students to be able to complete the task. You can also choose whether to laminate the puzzles to use repeatedly, or whether to have students paste the puzzles onto posters or into their notebooks.

INCLUDED:

•24 Fraction Puzzles

STANDARD 4.NF.5:

Express a fraction with denominator 10 as an equivalent fraction with denominator 100, and use this technique to add two fractions with respective denominators 10 and 100.

Although this center meets the above Common Core standard, this is NOT a Common Core specific skill! There is NO reference to the Common Core or the standard number on student pages, so this center is a great addition to any classroom!
