Fractions are one of those math topics that have to be memorized before kids can master the content. Kids need to build automaticity recognizing and working with fractions before they can understand complex concepts such as comparing the size of fractions or multiplying fractions.
The only way to build automaticity is to practice. This practice shouldn't be teacher led, but done independently by students. In order to give your students the tools they need to practice with fractions independently, I have created this fractions book. It has 46 pages of practice. The pages build on each other using models to help students make connections. All of the information kids need to complete the pages is included within the book.
Students can work on the book if they finish an assignment early, during math rotations, or while you are meeting with a small group. The book is great for a challenge for younger students or remediation for older students.
The best thing about this book is that it is designed to be used independently by students. They can even grade their own work using the answer key provided.
- 46 pages of fractions practice based on the 3rd grade Common Core fraction standards
- a cover and back page
