Do you have some third graders who caught on quickly to fractions? This is the perfect student-guided activity for them to work on while you have direct instruction, or during centers.
I created this for my GT third graders to work on while in regular math, since they aced their fraction pre-test.
It is all Common Core aligned, and even indicates which practice problem assess which specific part of the fraction standard.
Students complete practice fraction problems. After completing a problem, they follow the corresponding instructions. Following the instructions will have them dividing shapes into fractions and cutting out specific amounts. They then get to piece these together in their own way to form a robot!
Possible Extension: Have students write a paragraph describing their robot and what special functions it has!
